This printer is much better than the Konica-Minolta MagiColor 2400W it replaced. It's a monster (barely fit on the small filing cabinet I keep for my printer), but so far has been fairly easy to work with. I haven't had the chance to try all features as most of my work is printing 50-500 letters or postcards at a time. It definitely does what I consider quality work (though maybe my standards are lower than the tech gurus out there). It is a bit slow: 500 letters / 5 or 6 per minute = you do the math. Not super speedy, but if you have the time to wait, this printer will get the job done and was very affordable. I got mine for about $260 (S&H included).

I got mine for about $260 (S&H included). When I chose this printer, it was a new model, so it has been a few years. I needed a good reliable color printer for my ex and our kids. At the time it was the cheapest per page to operate, and that was with factory toner cartridges. You can buy refilled, or save even more and refill them yourself! It prints very well, and I have not had any problems with it. In fact, I bought a second one for me I like it so much!
Even though it is an older model now it is almost the end of 2013, I would still recommend it over any of the current models available. First off I have a career in IT, which started in repair in 1999. I have had this printer for many years. When it works with the correct settings the print quality is great.
Generally I have to do major amounts of unacceptable work to get it to print. After about the first 10 pages the printer started displaying replace toner waste cartage. If I manually cleaned the window were the sensor shined through the waste bin I could get it to print. Replacing the toner waste bin did not help. Then I cut the window out with a dremel tool and taped it up. That worked for a short time. Later it started failing again, so I took the printer apart and taped the emitter directly to the sensor and found a place to shove it inside the printer.

That resolved the waste toner for about a year or two. When that stopped working I took the sensor our and taped it to the outside of the printer.
Ironically I found that a outdoor bug light bulb was the only thing to would get the sensor to work. So for the last several months my printer has been afraid of the dark and only works when the bug light is on. I probably could have bypassed it, but I thought having a printer with night terrors was funny. From day one it jams almost every time I use it. Now it's reporting a Jam on Exit that will not go away despite having cleared the jam. I bought one set of full capacity toner cartridges for it and never got through them. If you are a tech and want a piece of junk that is a challenge every time use it this printer is for you.
I bought this printer in 2005 when it first came out (in fact, I had bought a second one when it was on sale, as that made the consumable parts less expensive than buying them separately). This printer has 7 consumable items: 1) 3x color & 1x black cartridges. Yes, they all have chips in them, but I bought a chip resetter and once the printer thinks that the cartridge is empty (even when obviously not). I reset the chips. I also buy my own bulk toner (made for this particular printer).

That keeps my toner consumables costs very low! 2) waste toner bin. Unused toner accumulates here and the printer will occasionally say it's full. Then I take it out and pour (carefully) the toner into my household trash can.
Then I take some compressed air (using a compressed air can) and blow remaining toner out, especially the one part where an electric eye in the printer senses when it is full. Sometimes I simply bend over a Qtip and clean that area manually. Saves me $30 everytime I do this, and after 10 years, I'm still on the same waste toner bin! 3) Imaging drum. I think that Samsung states needs to be replaced every so many thousands of pages. But I make it go further. If you hold the 'menu' switch while powering on the printer, it turns off the consumables checking.
